After a ripper was taken to this field in 1998 I had one fun time.
The ripper goes about two inches below the plow zone and apparently brings
the artifacts up, as you can see. The Hardins are my first, and only,
large point finds and I was absolutely thrilled and I sure didn’t mind
the Paleo finds
either. in fact, I became so excited I did a little dance in that field.....all
by myself.
This year the owner of the property and the Field Manager refrained
from using the ripper and I found zero artifacts, what a disappointment.
We are now in a three-way conversation and I am expounding on the merits
of the ripper.......better soil drainage of course............they just
smile.
