All of the artifacts pictured were found on the square-mile section
of land that we reside on and will be documented. The first little
point at the top, and the next, I believe are Brewerton Eared
Notched. The center, top point is a Hardin and although it has
been damaged it still speaks of the care it’s maker took when producing
this lovely piece. The large side notched points, to the
right of the Hardin, do not fit into any typologies very neatly so
we are calling them Early Archaic side notches as per John Duncan’s suggestion,
good one I might add. The third point down from the top is a beautiful
Cossatot River and is one of the few undamaged finds. Next is a Raddatz,
followed by Big Sandy and two more Raddatz. In the fourth row we
start with another Raddatz, unknown, a heavily resharpened Kirk-type made
from fossiliferous chert and two more Kirk. The bottom row begins
with a Kirk and is followed by two broken artifacts. The three remaining
points are all in the Kirk cluster. |
