Peotone: The Collections
The Willard Pauling Collection
The top row pictures bifurcates, the first three being MaCorkle or Cossatot River and the last artifact is a Lecroy. I believe the point to the left of the Lecroy is just not whole enough to accurately define although it does look much like the first four points.

The second row starts off with a question mark and that applies to the next three artifacts, however, they are most likely Brewerton Side Notched in various stages of resharpening. The last two points are Matanzas.

The last point in the third row appears to be a Durst and the others shall remain without type names for the time being.

Now we have a really interesting point……the big one. I spent hours scouring resource books and came to one conclusion….it doesn’t belong here according to the books! I also sent scans to Stone, John Duncan, Robert Peterson and Dale McElrath of Illinois Transportation Archaeological Research Program for their opinions. One opinion was that it could possibly be a Fox Valley on steroids and maybe that’s a distinct possibility here. I can find no other point other than a Perkioman Broad that fits, even though the distribution line is, at the moment, drawn at the Indiana/Ohio state line as to the eastern point of distribution. Now the search is on to find another one like this.

To the right of the “Perkioman” is an unnamed point, the next is the top of a Robbins, I believe, followed by two Hopewell-type artifacts.

In the last row we start with two points from the Lowe cluster, followed by the adjacent
Gray and white partial points, which will remain untyped for the moment. Pictured in the center is a Madison arrowhead and then we have various drills.
