This is the
what it looks like on top of the National Monument site, looking to the
southwest. The contact station, a trailer with a parking lot and
bathrooms, is down there some three miles away; park headquarters are some
15 miles away in the town of Fritch. Access is limited by locked
gates, but most of the way is on nicely paved roads. It was designated as federal land back in 1965 by LBJ, and it's funding is very limited. Park volunteers are contacted by the headquarters, meet you at the contact station, and escort visitors to the quarry site. Reservations are required for visiting the site, dependent on the availability of these volunteers. They are well versed in local history, and often have had experience in local archeological efforts. Email
Charles if you have any comments!
