A special purpose scraper?  Does anyone have any clues as to the use of this tool?
The working edge is down in view “a” (top) and up in view “c” (bottom).
View “b” (center) is into the working edge.  Two “large” flakes have been removed
(one from the top face and one from the bottom face) from the working edge with
the apparent intent of creating the straight edge seen in the side views without regard
for maintaining the curvature seen in the edge view. The entire working edge has
fine retouch flaking.  The top side in (view “a”) is thick and flat, forming a
comfortable gripping/pressure surface for the right index finger (pointing to the left)
with the thumb clasping the view “a” face with the curled middle finger against the
view “c” face.  I’ll venture a guess that it is a finishing scraper for bows or for wood
strips used in basket making.  The down turned ends (view “a”) aid in keeping the
scraper “on track”.  Any other ideas?  Any similar tools?.
