All of the artifacts here were found in two
different sites in Burke County Georgia. The ones that are patinated
were found in an area that the older folks called " the work shop".
Some of these people can remember finding points there when they were kids.
The site is right next to a shallow pond that is spring fed. We have
found a lot of large broken pieces there.
Most of the larger points and blades were broken by the plow over the years. The other points that show the colors of the material were found along a creek about 30 miles away from the other site. Alot of the points that we find along the creek are found in white sand ( we call it sugar sand ) and very shallow. It is very hard to go deep because of the high water table. This site was also been damaged due to logging. The logging company came in with backhoes and dog up alot of the site and used the sand to build access roads. |
