Three views of the atlatl dart shaft details.
Note the wrapped sinew and the type of slot that darts fitted into.
In the middle shot note the notch--- was this a kill score?
Note the slight grooving near the middle of the shaft on the right picture.
The entire shaft was sanded smooth and of a fairly hard wood.
 

Sorry for the out-of-focus nature of this shot of other artifacts Pete has found.
 

On the drive home we stopped in a little town called Harper, near Fredericksburg.
In a little park there's a Pioneer Museum that holds this fine collection of points.
 

Time to drive home and beat the rain!
