Nice little knife found in, yes, the same hole as last 2 weeks.
The same blade showing it's translucency.
You can now also see the fine flaking on the knife edge.
This little bone has odd score marks I've tried to get the scanner
to show.
I think it could be a pipe stem.
So, I've mentioned the hole I've been working in enough that I ought to show you a bit of it:
Note the hint of the red clay layer.
The knives were found just above this red layer at about the 5' level.
I found a nice metate, too, and may put it on the site later.
This Sunday we had a little dig-in with Dirt Brothers
Randy
S., Donnie, Rich and Leroy.
We worked the same ravine as last week with guests Paul
and Quinn (don't worry your holes are just bigger now.)
Rich found a nice little Pedernales, but he repaired
the tip and I won't show repaired artifacts.
Randy found a fine turtleback scraper which will be on
the site later.
How about a few shots of the boys hard at work!
Thanks to everyone for a great day!
Email us, you can come
diggin' with the Dirt Brothers!

Two sides of a fine 4-1/2" knife found in same hole as blade found
last week (see below)!
What you can't see is the fine chipping on the edges, or how thin it
is.
Much Thanks to Paul and Quinn who visited Rich
and I on a dig at Onion Creek.
Quinn's finds are on his site: Quinn's
Virtual Point (this page if
you're in a hurry)
Write to us if you're in the Austin
area, maybe you can come diggin' with the Dirt Brothers.

Sweetheart Kinney knife found at Onion Creek, Travis County Texas
Note hinge fracture didn't stop the knife from being hafted.
