Tennis may be the first word that comes to mind when
the city of Wimbledon comes up in conversation,
but this city has some old roots...
Neolithic and Bronze age people
found this area a great place to live and
Julius Caesar and his troops camped in some of the same spots.
An old map of Caesar's Camp.
Caesar's Camp is just a part of a huge Wimbledon Common.
Here I am on the edge of the camp, near the Well you'll see later on.
Almost every town and village in England has a Common, which
is basically a large piece of land designated as public property.
