Through dreams the Creator has given her direction and words of wisdom to help guide her in what she must do to help all her relatives here on earth-mankind, animal life and plant life.  Some relatives, specifically her Grandmother Pansy Parshall, have guided her and advised her.  “I feel like it’s my duty to remind the people of what they have.  My Grandma showed me love, (taught me) how to love and how to bring out the good in people.”

The death of her grandmother in 1992 was one of those specific events that caused Jackie to grow spiritually and to have a greater concern for the people.  It was also a time when she began to experience a strong urge to design and sew.  “I think she passed her gift on to me. Because when I was in school I had no interest in sewing.  Instead I took shop and woodworking classes,” said Jackie.  Her grandmother did beadwork, quilting and other types of sewing, she said.  Now she too, wants to design clothes.

Due in part to her heightened sense of spirituality, everything she creates today has to have a meaning.  Each of the shawls and painted coats she designs has a significant meaning that is important to her tribal heritage.  The colors and symbols are meant to help individuals understand how to live respectfully on earth and be reminded of their beautiful heritage.  Of the gifts that have been passed on to her from her grandmother she said “ I empty myself and allow my grandmother’s spirit and gift to flow through me.”
