present Book Reviews For Amateur & Avocational Archaeologists |
Of all of the questions we get here at
dirtbrothers.org, none come close in number to the
1000's of queries as to available books on topics
ranging from general archaeological field guides and
research publications to guides to artifacts to
histories of Native Americans and other topics of
anthropological interest.
In this section
we will try to provide some of those answers,
giving you quick reviews of useful,
informative and engaging books, most
from university presses and not usually found in
local bookstores. We point you directly to
publisher websites where you can immediately
purchase books. Our reviews are written for
amateur and avocationalist archaeologists who want
to learn more about the past in order to enhance
their experiences in the field.
Professionals also might find references here to
books they may not have seen. We fully support
the university press system. University presses
print books no one else will-- these are mostly
small print runs and not commercially-feasible for
most of the mega-presses to bother with. Buying a book from a
small press, or university press, guarantees
that future research data will get published! The Dirt
Brothers earn no funds from the sale of these
books! If you have read
a book, or know of one we ought to review, drop
us an email and we'll get right on it---
send us your book reviews, too! This page
will be constantly updated. (Newest Additions at bottom of thumbnail list) Subject Categories Click Thumbnail of Book Cover to be taken directly to review of that book. Scroll/Click to bottom of page to see latest additions and books received (in queue for review). |
