More goodies from Dirt Bro Michael
Leggett in Houston, Texas:
Back in the late '80s and early '90s, there were several drought conditions in east Texas. Toledo Bend was very low and a fisherman happened to be out on a point there along the Sabine River and noticed a point - a Scottsbluff. From what we heard, he started digging in the area and uncovered a major Scottsbluff site. It was so good, that when the rains raised the water level, he was digging for points under water. Evidently several people got in on the dig. Some time later, my brother was at Northwestern University visiting
with Dr. Gregory when someone came by with a cigar box full of Scottsbluffs
they had dug up. I remember Larry saying what beautiful quality of
material and workmanship. A few years later, he contacted me if i would
be interested in going in with him to purchase a Scottsbluff (one point
we had never found in 30 years). I agreed and this is what we ended up
with. It is a slender beauty with an impact fracture 1 inch from the tip.
What a great story! Thanks, again Michael!!
