Dirt Bro Quinn took a road trip back to his birth state, Arkansas---
here's his tale:
"I had a good time in Hot Springs. Did a bunch of downed tree
cleanup for my Dad from last year's ice storm. He couldn't bale hay along
the fence line due to all the fallen trees and huge branches. So
I hauled about 6 trailer loads of branches and pulled two fallen trees
into the pasture and burned them.
I did get a chance to hunt for artifacts though. Went down
to the creek, in an area which was bulldozed
years ago for gravel and fill dirt. Was all grown up with
small pine trees, but I did find one white novaculite
point beside a pushed over tree root ball. Was hard to see,
early in the AM, drizzling rain, but I spoted
a bunch of small white novaculite flakes in the root ball.
Was almost leaving when I glanced down at my
left foot, and there was the point. I also got lucky in an
old watermellon patch.
I had hunted there about ten years ago, plus my brother George knew
of the place. Well from some reason,
the property owner had disked up the field after not planting it
for years. George and I got too it right after a rain, I found
two and George also found two. What a nice day to remember.
We also got a pocket full of broken bases, tips and midsections.
I told my brother to hunt that site real good before it gets overgrown
again.
The white one with the broken tip, and the grey Tiger striped novaculite
came from the watermellon patch.
