I don't know if you can tell much from these pictures but take a good look at this stone slab.  Mr. Julian Finley a volunteer and concerned member of the church ask me to look at this granite stone to see if I could help identify it.  He said he just happened across the website and knew I would be interested so he gave me a call. ???????? They have hired a professional to restore the tombstones in the old cemetery surrounding St. Paul's and while doing so they discovered this granite slab.  They have had several knowledgeable area professors look at it and they haven't a clue what it is.  I told them I was by no means very knowledgeable about these things but I would surely take a look as pass the word.  Let me explain, St. Paul's is a stones throw across the levee to the Savannah River and located in the heart of the oldest part of town.  This site was previously the site of a least two old British fortresses, a couple of churches and a known gathering place for tribal elders.  There is a marker close to this part of the cemetery documenting an important meeting of the tribes in the late 1700's.  I took the picture named St. Paul's and Mr. Finley sent me the 
three other pictures showing the slab with a coating of kaolin clay covering it exposing more detail.  I could see a definite expanding circle and the strategically placed holes and thought that it resembles a calendar designating the changing of seasons. 

Mark II, my oldest immediately said it looks like a map of the solar system.  So far Mr. Finley told me they have contacted a few archeologists but could not afford their services so he has been asking the locals.  I would appreciate any thoughts you might have concerning it.  Do you know of any professionals in this area that could help?  Mr. Huff the gentleman hired to restore the tombstones will be back in town in a couple of weeks and I should get a chance to talk to him then and volunteer my services as a laborer just to get in on the action.
