My name is Steve Valentine and I have been
collecting Indian artifacts for 40 years. I found my first arrowhead at
the age of 6 and have been hooked ever since. My collection is 95% personally
found and almost entirely surface found. I do the bulk of my collecting
in Scioto and Lawrence counties in southern Ohio and Greenup and Lewis
counties in northern Kentucky along the Ohio River and it tributaries.
As you can see from the pictures I have artifacts
from every culture from Paleo through Ft. Ancient. We have numerous Ft.
Ancient village site in our area that we have permission to surface hunt.
These sites produce a number of finely made Triangle points(many of them
serrated) and many different types of beads, including shell, bone, copper,
and glass. We also find quite a bit of pottery on these sites as well as
bone tools and pipes.
We also have quite a bit of Archaic culture
points prevalent in our area as you can see by the Lost Lakes, Big Sandys,
Fishspears, Brewertons, and other Archaic pieces in my collection. Stone
tools are also found in my area including Full Groove and Three Quarter
Grovved Axes, Celts, Gouges, Pestles, and Adzes.
