Shiva’s Headband issued four vinyl 45’s:
Kaleidoscopic/Song for Peace
This was the first Austin recording to get on the charts. Issued
by Ignite records in the summer of 1968, produced by Bruce Hooper (who
became a golf pro) songs by Spencer Perskin. Recorded at Pecan Street
studio. Fans have told me that one hearing of this song changed their
lives forever.
Take Me To the Mountains/Lose the Blues
We recorded this single in 1969 at Robinhood Brian’s studio in Tyler.
We thought the blues tune was the A side, but it was the funky country
rock song that got their attention This was the first project that
Jim Franklin’s art appeared on. This was the first Armadillo records
release.
Country Boy/Such A Joy
Also recorded at Robinhood’s, in 1971. Shawn Siegel wrote
Such a Joy.
Jim Franklin did extensive art on the label and jacket. Released on
Armadillo.
Don’t Blame Me/Extension
This single was recorded in Dallas in 1975. Shawn wrote Extension.
Jim Franklin did a jacket with an armadillo with a headband made of
armadillos.

Take Me to the Mountains
We signed with Capitol in early 1970 and recorded this LP at the Dead’s
old studio in San Jose. This was the first release by an Austin band
on a major label. Some of the advance was used to found the Armadillo
World Headquarters. It incidentally ushered in the cosmic cowboy
age. It was co-produced by Spencer Perskin and Fred Catero.
Coming to a Head
We recorded this in Houston in 1971 and released it on the Armadillo
label Produced by Spencer and recorded by Zak Lam. It was re-released
by Armadillo in 1981.
Psychedelic Yesterday (remastered as Kaleidescoptic YesterDaze)
Recorded at McAdams studio in Austin in 1977. Released on the
(Austin) Ape label.
Includes 1968 45 single "Kaleidescoptic/Song for Peace"
In the Primo of Life
We recorded this LP at Austin Trax in 1983. It became the first
album release on the new Moontower Sounds label
